A new virus Mydoom has hit the computer world affecting a lot
of computers. This virus resorts to sending large number of
e-mails affecting the mail servers of lots of big companies.
The message is being sent with one of several different random
subject lines, such as "Mail Delivery System,"
"Test" or "Mail Transaction Failed." The
body of the e-mail contains an executable file and a statement
such as: "The message contains Unicode characters and has
been sent as a binary attachment." and "The message
cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been
sent as a binary attachment." Some times it also sends
.zip files. I also received a few e-mails in my yahoo inbox,
which was automatically put into my bulk folder by Yahoo.
Once opened, the program installs itself and makes itself a
node for a network based attack. The latest version also
disables all security systems. It disallows anti-virus
softwares to do virus updates from the network.
Senior
IT Researchers are expecting this worm to hang on to the
network for sometime. This could adversely affect the speed of
internet programs and websites.
